Like most Blue microphones, the Yeti X is first and foremost a
DSP-free mic, so you're getting a pure signal with no EQ or
compression. If you prefer to record with DSP presets, consider the
aforementioned $200 Shure MV51. BlueVoice software does, in a way,
provide accessible presets, but it exists in its own recording app,
and many users will prefer to stick with the recording software
they're used to. Even without it, this is a mic that offers a
clear, robust signal, four useful patterns, and can be just as at
home recording vocals as it is recording musical instruments.That's
fine, but plenty of users might wish that Blue would consider
including DSP presets internally (at least on some models), like
Shure does, and then include a flat mode, which uses no DSP at all.
That's not necessarily the preference of this reviewer, but if
you're looking for a plug-and-play solution that immediately has
presets ideal for, say, podcasts, it's not hard to see the appeal.
